Volunteers, friends, family, new neighbors, donors and distinguished guests welcomed 70 year-old Rosalind and her family to their new Habitat home in Levittown on Friday, June 2. Rosalind, who is the pastor of New Vision Worship Center, is a first-time homeowner. A widow and mother who opened her life and heart through adoption, Rosalind leads her church in providing direct service to her community.

“We are inspired by our partner families who work hard on becoming successful homeowners, especially by their work ethic and determination,” said Florence Kawoczka, Executive Director, Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County. “Habitat is very much about building homes—homes that are professionally designed, sound homes that are affordable for families,” noted Kowoczka. “Habitat is also about building community—we engage the community in helping us build and our families become active members of their towns.”

Procter & Gamble, Quilts for Kids and St. Peter Lutheran Church Quilters presented Rosalind and five of her adopted children with welcome gifts. Home sponsors include Bank of America, KeyBank, Santander Bank, Wells Fargo, ADP, BB&T, Dominion, The Leff Family Foundation, Penn Community Bank, Sykes Enterprises, Inc,

Habitat for Humanity’s homeownership program is a hand up, not a hand out. Habitat families invest a minimum of 200 hours of sweat equity building their houses, obtain affordable mortgages to purchase their homes and pay taxes on the full values of the homess
